As a child, I grew up well versed in celebrating the holidays as they came around. Presents on Christmas, costumes on Halloween, I mean the works. Out of all the holidays my absolute favorite had to be Easter. You had the Easter egg hunt, the basket, and you got to wear the BIG frilly dress. I was in absolute heaven. Now that I am an adult with my own children I realize how times have certainly changed.
Let me clarify what I mean when I say times have changed. The very same religion I was taught to believe has altered the way I have chosen to allow my children to celebrate. Everything has become "of the enemy" and "children shouldn't celebrate" as it's frowned upon by the Church. Even now as I type this I think about all the Easter baskets I have passed in Walmart and don't have the desire to purchase one for my children. DARN YOU RELIGION! Your stronghold has not only robbed my children of a full childhood but I know it has done the same for so many more. Parents, it is our job to teach our children right from wrong. It is our job to explain to our children the truth behind EVERYTHING. If you chose to allow your children to celebrate what religion has taught is "pagan" holidays, make it your responsibility to ensure that they are aware of where you stand in the matter. At the end of the day, children just want to be children and modern day religion has robbed them of them of this right. -Be blessed Tanaka Caprice
